LA NOCHE DEL PATRIMONIO. LA NIT DEL PATRIMONI. A NOITE DO PATRIMONIO
In 2018, on the occasion of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of its creation, the Spanish World Heritage Cities Group (GCPHE) launched LA NOCHE DEL PATRIMONIO. LA NIT DEL PATRIMONI. A NOITE DO PATRIMONIO to highlight the diversity and «living heritage» of the 15 Cities through their local talents, cultural expressions and the hybridisation between intangible heritage and contemporary creation. Since then, this unique event in Europe has created a space for exchange between UNESCO World Heritage Cities, artistic territories and diverse audiences.
CELEBRATE WITH US THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SPANISH WORLD HERITAGE CITIES GROUP
In 2023, coinciding with the 30th Anniversary of the creation of the GCPHE and the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on 16th September the cities of Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza/Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo and Úbeda, in compliance with the social vocation inherent to their declaration as World Heritage, will open the doors of their most emblematic treasures at night and bring their historic centres to a new life.
With a vast array of cultural activities, the 15 Cities will bring closer to locals and visitors their exceptional Cultural Heritage during the whole night.
HERITAGE NIGHT AMONG THE CULTURAL EVENTS HIGHLIGHTED BY THE PRESIDENCY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
THE HERITAGE CITIES OF CUBA, MEXICO AND PERU JOIN THE GREAT LIVING HERITAGE FESTIVAL
This sixth edition will have even greater visibility beyond our borders thanks to new partnerships with the World Heritage Cities Associations of Cuba, Mexico, and Peru.
The Heritage Night programme is designed jointly by the Education, Culture and Sport Commission of the GCPHE, made up of the Councillors for Culture of the 15 cities in the network, which is currently chaired by the Mayor of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez Pérez.
ESCENA PATRIMONIO IS A COMMITMENT TO DECENTRALISED CHOREOGRAPHIC CREATION AND THE FUSION OF TRADITIONAL EXPRESSIONS AND NEW LANGUAGES.
Within this context, stands out as the culmination of a rich variety of artistic proposals,the programme of the ESCENA PATRIMONIO Dance Festival.
This festival and platform for choreographic creation is committed to decentralisation and the fusion between traditions and new languages by internationally renowned choreographers, under the artistic direction of Lorenzo Pappagallo, and has established itself, edition after edition, as a platform for contemporary choreographic creation in heritage spaces.
THE SPANISH WORLD HERITAGE CITIES GROUP
The GCPHE is a non-profit association declared of «Public Utility» which is formed by the fifteen Spanish cities declared World Heritage: Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza / Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo and Úbeda.
Thier objective is the coordinated and joint work of these City Councils in favour of the conservation and promotion of the enormous historical and cultural heritage of these cities, which are a true international reference in cultural tourism and which enrich and reinforce the concept of Spain as a brand.
