THE HERITAGE NIGHT, in its eighth edition, will be held again simultaneously in the 15 World Heritage Cities in Spain on September 13th, 2025.

This great celebration of“living heritage” it will be structured into several sections common to the 15 cities:

ABIERTO PATRIMONIO (OPEN HERITAGE)

From dusk until dawn, the most iconic heritage and cultural spaces will be open to the public free of charge, allowing visitors to enjoy museums, palaces, churches, and other iconic buildings outside of their normal opening hours.

Among the spaces highlighted in this edition are: the Paraninfo de la Universidad in Alcalá de Henares; the Muralla de Ávila in Ávila; the Iglesia de La Encarnación in Baeza; the Concatedral de Santa María in Cáceres; the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos in Córdoba; the Casas Colgadasin Cuenca; the Museu d’Art Contemporani in Ibiza/Eivissa; the Casa del Mitreo in Mérida; the Torres de la Clerecía in Salamanca; the Ermita de Santo Domingo de Guzmán in San Cristóbal de La Laguna; the Pazo de Raxoi in Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela; the Centro Didáctico de la Judería in Segovia; the Pretorio and Circo Romano in Tarragona; the garden and Iglesia de San Lucas in Toledo; and the Basílica de Santa María de los Reales Alcázares in Úbeda.

In addition, some establishments are managed by PARADORES. They will offer guided tours, dramatized performances, food tastings, and musical performances.

VIVE PATRIMONIO (EXPERIENCE HERITAGE)

THE HERITAGE NIGHT also exalts local creation and the intangible heritage, offering diverse and quality cultural programming.

Among many other activities, Alcalá de Henares will host a concert by Ismael González at the Teatro Salón Cervantes, while in Ávila, visitors will be able to see an exhibition of medieval costumes at the Palacio de los Verdugo. Baeza will offer a concert by its municipal band at Plaza Puerta de Toledo, and Cáceres will come alive with performances by young artists in Plaza de las Veletas. In Córdoba, poetry recitals by young poets will take place in the emblematic Taberna Fuenseca, while Cuenca will feature a performance by its municipal band in the Jardín de los Poetas. Ibiza/Eivissa will celebrate the “Nit al Baluard” concert series at the Baluarte de Sant Pere; Mérida will present dance and folk art performances at the Alcazaba Árabe; and Salamanca will organize guided tours of the Domus Artium. In San Cristóbal de La Laguna, heritage films will be screened at the former Convento de Santo Domingo; Santiago de Compostela will offer themed activities throughout its historic old town; and Segovia will conduct guided tours in the gardens of its walled enclosure. Tarragona will host the traditional Trobada de Diables i Balls de Diables, a spectacular showcase of festive heritage; Toledo will feature a concert by Ana Alcaide at the Adarve de la Puerta del Sol; and Úbeda will surprise visitors with a historical reenactment of Roman legionaries at the Museo Arqueológico.

These activities reinforce the concept of“living heritage”, building bridges between history, contemporary creation and citizenship.

ESCENA PATRIMONIO (DANCING HERITAGE)

Under the motto“Intimate Vestiges”The ESCENA PATRIMONIO 2025 program delves into a dialogue between memory and the present, between the imprint of time and the impulse of the body. Contemporary dance activates the invisible layers that inhabit heritage spaces, revealing their most sensorial, emotional, and living dimensions.

In its eighth edition, the Escena Patrimonio Dance Festival will present 15 contemporary dance and performing arts performances in significant heritage spaces in each city.

This Festival, supported by the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), will feature exclusive creations by renowned national and international choreographers and companies, with 8 absolute premieres in more than 25 performances.

The creators and exceptional heritage sites chosen as venues for this edition of ESCENA PATRIMONIO are: Carmen Fumero and Chang Dance Theatre at the Corral de Comedias (Alcalá de Henares); Alberto Velasco at the Episcopio – Plaza del Mercado Grande (Ávila); Irene Naranjo at the Fuente de los Leones (Baeza); Sol Picó at the Foro de los Balbos (Cáceres); Laila Tafur at the Sala Orive (Córdoba); Javier Martín at the Auditorio de Cuenca(Cuenca); Magdalena Garzón at the Iglesia de Santo Domingo (Ibiza/Eivissa); Marco Flores at the Alcazaba(Mérida); Antonio Najarro in the gardens of the Sala de Exposiciones de Santo Domingo de la Cruz (Salamanca); Carlos Carvento at the Claustro de Santo Domingo (San Cristóbal de La Laguna); Lorena Nogal at the Museo do Pobo Galego, located in the former Convento de Santo Domingo de Bonaval (Santiago de Compostela); the Compañía Nacional de Danza at the Alcázar de Segovia (Segovia); Marc Fernández at the Balcó del Mediterrani (Tarragona); the Centro Coreografico Nazionale / Aterballetto with Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda at the Puerta de Bisagra (Toledo); and Celia Espadas at the Hospital de Santiago (Úbeda).

The programming includes 15 pieces by recognized and emerging choreographers, including seven world premieres and one national premiere, in more than 25 performances, accompanied by parallel activities linked to heritage and dance, such as workshops, presentations, talks, and dance video screenings.

Once again this year, the programming will give special prominence to the female creation and artistic diversity, with the participation of artists from the Heritage Cities themselves, 8 Spanish autonomous communities (Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Community of Madrid, Extremadura and Galicia), as well as guest artists and companies from countries such as Italy, Japan and Taiwan.
